Organisational Structure

DTU Civil Engineering consists of a number of sections, centres and teams, each responsible for a specific field of expertise. The management is handled by DTU Civil Engineering’s Management Group that consists of the Head of Department, the Deputy Head of Department, the Head of Education and the Board of Section and Team Heads.


The management at DTU Civil Engineering is comprised by the department’s Executive Board, consisting of the Head of Department and the Deputy Head of Department, along with the Head of Education and the Board of Section and Team Heads consisting of heads of each section, centre and teams (see below)

Areas of responsibility

Head of Department Niels-Jørgen Aagaard is responsible for research and research-based advice.

Deputy Head of Department Henrik Stang is responsible for innovation and laboratories.

Head of Education Professor Per Goltermann is responsible for educational activities at the department.

Head of Section Geo Clausen is appointed Research Integrity Coordinator and is responsible for the department’s compliance to DTU’s Code of Conduct.

Sections, centers and teams

DTU Civil Engineering is organised in a matrix, where everyone is employed in one of the line organisation units.

The organization consists of six sections, two centres and two teams arranged according to professional identity.

The sections and centres are responsible for the research development within their own fields of research while the teams are the coordinating units of the department.
