Department of Civil Engineering at Technical University of Denmark (DTU), Section of Building Energy is seeking a Research Scientist in the field of Solar heating systems. The research includes theoretical and experimental investigations on solar collectors, solar collector fields as well as test methods for solar collectors and solar collector fields, solar heating systems and heat storage inclusive PCM (Phase Change Material) heat storage for solar heating systems.

Responsibilities and tasks
The candidate will conduct scientific research projects together with industrial and academic partners in the field of solar heating systems.

It is expected that the candidate will participate in applying for future funding, participate in conferences and publish project results.

The candidate will participate in ongoing research projects to

  • determine the efficiency and thermal performance of solar collectors for solar heating plants.
  • investigate PCM heat storages for solar heating systems.
  • determine the thermal performance of solar heating systems tested in laboratory test facilities
Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent.

Further qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience on test methods for solar collectors and on tests of solar collectors.
  • Knowledge on solar collector fields and on measurement methods to evaluate the thermal performance of solar collector fields.
  • Knowledge and experience in the area of tests of solar heating system.
  • Knowledge on long term PCM heat storage for solar heating systems.

In the assessment of the candidates consideration will be given to

  • scientific production and research potential at international level
  • innovative skills and the ability to generate new ideas
  • the ability to communicate at all levels such as the provision of scientific advice to public sector authorities
  • an all-round experience basis, preferably including international experience
  • the ability to contribute to development of internal and external cooperation

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.

The position as researcher is a position as part of which the employee after a maximum of 4 years transfers to a position as senior research scientist provided that the employee is recommended for assessment and is deemed qualified. More information can be found here: Career paths at DTU.
